The mainstream media's perfected art of lying by omission, spinning stories and framing narratives is nothing new. However, a stark contrast has been afforded to the public with the advent and popularity of independent, open source and citizen journalism. Time and time again, the mainstream media’s one trick pony of access journalism — and back up plan of lying by omission — has proven stale and tired.
Energy is moving, society is discussing important matters and life is being lived outside the narrow confines of mainstream media news rooms. People want to be part of this present and alive, real time flow. In fact, many are adding to the narrative and even becoming media news sources themselves. False lines laid by mainstream news gatekeepers have become severely blurred and bending more towards truth every day by alternative sources.
In the age of rapid information, internal memo leaks and mega-dumps (i.e., WikiLeaks), no compromised individual or criminal corporation is safe. The bodies are hidden everywhere and we all have shovels now. Stories from officials with conflicts of interests are being deconstructed in real time — while promptly uncovered facts spotlight cracks in agenda driven news stories.
Reporters with humanity, integrity and investigative skills are jumping ship, disrupting internal programs and blowing the whistle on the centralized control of information. The most recent example comes from FullMeasure.news investigative reporter and New York Times Best Seller Sheryl Attkisson. When The Hollywood Reporter attempted to float a planted news piece, Attkisson took to Twitter and deconstructed the story with precision. On the grand scale of energy, it took only a few Twitter posts to vaporize the integrity and trust of The Hollywood Reporter, its author and whatever point they both attempted to force upon readers. In this particular case, the author of the rapidly debunked article was Paul “Conflict of Interest” Offit. Propped up, purposely embedded, exposed and long since sold out, Offit occupies the role of an infectious cancer parasitizing off the good intentions of those attempting to lift modern medicine out of the dark ages.
As Attkisson pointed out, it isn’t about one person, the central point is the willful spin and lack of oversight by The Hollywood Report. The news agency made zero effort to “do their homework” by running a piece which negatively reports on a film about vaccine corruption. Written by a person that has received undisclosed millions from vaccines. Who is also in the film he is reporting on — in which he is factually portrayed negatively. Attkisson then delivered the deathblow to any remaining question of trust and integrity facing The Hollywood Reporter’s piece or its duplicitous author by posting the investigation she headed up in 2008 — about vaccine corruption — starring Offit.
