Many are unaware of the fact that Bruce Lee was one of the great philosophers and self motivator of his time. Influenced heavily by the work and writings of Alan Watts, Jiddu Krishnamurti, Lao Tzu, Daisetsu Suzuki, and scores of others, his writings filled seven large volumes. Lee, like many other living earth science legends, used his power of observation to create the most simple and complete martial arts system devoid of rigid style; capable of flowing and adapting, like water, to any circumstance. However, his art of Jeet Kune Do, with its axiom of ‘Using No Way As Way’ and ‘Having No Limitation as Limitation’ was simply a metaphor for one to experience life moment to moment, constantly learning, and evolving towards simplicity and betterment in any endeavour. Below are selections from his library of quotes and writings. Notice the ideas and words of Tesla, Russell, and Schauberger can be felt weaving their way throughout his concepts all touching on universal truths.
“I feel I have this great creative and spiritual force within me that I s greater than faith, great than ambition, greater than confidence, greater than determination, greater than vision. It is all of these combined. My brain becomes magnetized with this dominating force which I hold in my hand.”
“Life is wide, limitless – there is no border, no frontier.”
“Simplicity is the end of art, and the beginning of nature.”
“The mind is like a fertile garden, it will grow anything you wish to plant – beautiful flowers or weeds. And so it is with successful, healthy thoughts or with negative ones that will, like weeds, strangle and crowd the others. Do not allow negative thoughts to enter your mind for they are the weeds that strangle confidence.”
“The spiritual power of a person’s will removes all obstacles.”
